Recently, 2000MPa bridge cable steel co-developed by Wuhan Steel and its cooperator successfully won the bid for the project of Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge.
Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge is the key control project for the Shanghai-Nantong Railway which is the coastal channel of China railway network, total length of the bridge is 11072m, it is constructed per highway-railway combined bridge and double tower stayed-cable bridge, main span is 1092m. After completion, the bridge will be the first highway-railway combined bridge used 2000MPa bridge cable steel with over kilometer-length span.
Bridge cable steel wire is the raw material of galvanized steel wire for bridge cable, hot galvanized steel wire for cable is the "Lifeline" of the large bridge, for every 10% increase in strength, the sectional area of cable can be reduced by more than 10%, therefore, improvement of the hot galvanized steel wire strength becomes important trend of the future development of bridge cable technology at home and abroad.
Research and development of the cable steel wire of Wuhan Steel Ltd. has experienced years of technical accumulation, which successfully solved difficult technological problems, such as low tensile strength of wire rod and poor steel wire torsion performance, etc., realized mass production of 1670MPa cable steel wire rod, and successively developed 1770MPa, 1860MPa, 1960Mpa and 2000MPa cable steel wire rod.
For this time, successful development of 2000MPa ultra-high strength bridge cable steel of Wuhan Steel Ltd. and bid winning of the project of Shanghai-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge marks that Wuhan Steel Ltd. has successfully occupied the technical commanding height of bridge cable steel wire, which will further improve market awareness of the wire rod of Wuhan Steel Ltd.
